Phase 1: Digitization & Public Access
In the first phase of this project, we’re focusing entirely on preservation by archiving and digitizing these fragile materials for the very first time. This initial step safeguards the original texts while making the pages immediately accessible for public viewing.
Phase 2: OCR & Searchability
For the second phase, we will process these documents using advanced OCR technology to translate the historic handwriting into digital text. This will make the entire collection completely scannable and searchable for specific family names, historic properties, and local landmarks.
