The Metamora Association for Historic Preservation (MAHP) was honored to serve as the Grand Marshal for the 2026 Old Settlers parade.
This year’s parade carried a special weight as we celebrated three massive milestones: America 250, Hanover 190, and the 125th Old Settlers. It was a privilege to represent our community’s deep roots, tracing all the way back to 1836 when our town was originally founded as Hanover. 190 years later, we are prouder than ever to keep that history alive.

Representing MAHP On The Parade Route
We had a fantastic turnout of leadership representing our organization along the parade route, including:
- Laure Adams (President)
- Jack Weddle (Secretary)
- Ken Schmillen (Director)
- Lee Summer (Director)
A Heartfelt Thank You!
An event of this scale takes a village, and we have a few special shout-outs to make:
- To the Old Settlers Committee: Thank you for your flawless organization and for putting together another spectacular parade that brings our community together year after year.
- To Ken: A huge thank you to Ken for volunteering his truck for us to ride in throughout the parade!
Perfect Parade Weather
Mother Nature smiled on us this year. Compared to the scorching June heat of the last several summers, the cloudy skies this year gave us a more cool and comfortable day to celebrate.
Thank you to everyone who came out, waved, and celebrated our rich local history with us.
Here’s to the next 190 years!
